In My Mother’s Shoes...

I am my mother, Beth.
I wonder why my family is almost always on electronics.
I hear Ryan talking with his friends while playing ROBLOX.
I see more and more cooking recipes on FaceBook.
I want everyone to see how good Ryan is at soccer.
I am his protector.

I pretend that the new house color is better than the old house color.
I feel the need to watch him play with the neighbors.
I touch the the keypads on my keyboard searching.
I understand Ryan’s not a baby and doesn’t always need my help.
I say “How’s everything going?” every so often
through the walkie talkie.
I dream of how mature and kind he will be when he’s older.
