Early life - In the year 1743, Thomas Jefferson was born, April 13 ( April 2, 1743 Old Style, Julian calendar).  His family was very wealthy and he had 6 sisters, and a brother. Thomas’ mom loved to write, and she would share that love with Thomas. Some scientists believe that Tom’s relationship with his mom was strained. When Thomas was 3 years old, his family moved from Shadwell to a farm called Tuckahoe. By the time Thomas was 
5 years old, he went to a 1 room school. He got educated very well. When Tom was in college, he studied 15 hours a day. He graduated with top honors at the age of 20. Tom was a strong minded, freckle- faced guy at that time, others would say.

Successful + Famous for - Thomas Jefferson was president 1801 to 1809. Tom was the 3rd president of the U.S.!  As a president, he said that he wanted to make everyone feel equal. So, Tom wrote most of the Declaration of Independence.

Marriage - Thomas Jefferson was married January 1, 1772. Thomas was married to a woman named Martha Wayles Skelton. After Thomas married Martha, they moved to a place called Monticello, which meant “little rock” in Italian. They lived in a big house, where hundreds of people still visit today.

Happy Death - By the time Jefferson was 83, he died on July 4, 1826 in Charlottesville, Virginia. Just before he died he was very thankful for having a happy, healthy, good life.
