Madison W.

Wow! That's a relief, I thought I was going to die back there.”  I’m really
glad Ava helped me accomplish something like this. I can’t believe that I
just went down that slide! It is the biggest one I have ever seen!

I was in line. My cheeks were burning and my palms were sweaty.
Ava said, “Maddie, it will be just fine.” I started to think that Ava was
trying to get the slide off my mind because she asked me about volleyball.
Are you doing volleyball?” said Ava.
“I think so, when does it start?” I asked.
“Next week on Thursday,” Ava said.  Who's next? I heard as we were
getting closer to the front of the line. We were second in line thoughts
ran through my head the slide was yellow with splashes of red all over it.
I heard screams getting softer and softer as the people in front of us went
down. It was our turn and the lifeguard handed us a raft. I thought of
YouTube videos and how people fell off the rafts and got badly hurt.
Ava patted my back, “It will be just fine, I will be there for you if anything
happens.” I will try to help as much as I can!” We slowly got onto the
raft together.

I looked down the water slide, it was a long way down. That was the problem
it was a long way down. I looked at Ava she seemed very excited and after
what she said to me “I felt very safe.” We zoomed down the water slide. Ava
was holding onto my leg making sure I wouldn't fall off. Bam!!!!! I felt like
I was flying in the air because there was a huge drop. I hit my head on the raft.
I felt like I was going to die from one of the  huge drops. Twist and turns,
I couldn't breath. Boom another drop, but this time I fell off. I was holding
onto one handle bar while I was dangling off the side of the raft. Ava was
doing everything she could to pull me back up. It felt like this was going to
be how I was going to end my life. There would be posters everywhere saying
“Great Wolf Lodge, girl who died on the water slide.” I grabbed Ava´s leg
I pulled on it until my body was half way up. I grabbed the other handlebar
but, then slipped. So many more thoughts ran through my head. I saw yellow,
red, and black. I wished that I was still in the pool splashing around in the
water with Ava calm, having fun. I was not having any fun now.

I screamed “HELP ME!” I threw my body onto the raft one leg was on and
one leg was off I used all of my upper body strength to pull myself up finally!
I'm on the raft and feel safe.
“Oh my goodness! Are you ok?” said Ava.

“ I guess so but I don't want to go again after this!” I’m still a little scared but
it was a little  fun. I liked the thrill of the water splashing into my face, it
felt amazing! I started to like the twist and turns a little bit. I will never like
the drops EVER! I see a bunch of water like the pool that you crash into when
you are done with the water slide. You would think I would be happy it was
over but I was happy I accomplished something like this. I couldn’t have
done it without Ava, no way. I was happy she was there for me. That's what
friends are for! :)
