Drama Queens

Chapter One
Click, click, click were the sounds of Abby’s shoes as she ran into her room. What am I going to wear today? thought Abby as she brushed through her closet. It had to match her sparkly high heels. Finally she spotted the perfect pink dress of her dreams.
“Abby we have to go... NOW,” scolded Abby’s mom. Abby rushed down the stairs, through the door, and in the car. When they finally reached the school, Abby ran through the double doors, her backpack flailing behind her. She slid on the cold, hard floor next to her group. “New outfit today Abby. Where did you get that sparkly tutu, Justice?” asked Jade in her sassy voice.
“Oh, well Jade where did you get those shoes, Babies R’ Us?’’ sneered Abby. People all around them giggled and whispered. Abby walked away with attitude, and decided to work by herself.
“Where do you think you're going Miss Hoffman? It’s a group effort,’’ the teacher said in a serious voice. “I was just getting my pencil,” Abby lied.
Jade rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue. Abby wearily slumped back down and fiddled with her pencil.
Chapter 2
Vroom. The bus went as it pulled away. Abby quickly ran down the driveway, and heard a grumble from her stomach. She was hungry. She skipped into the kitchen, and reached into the pantry grabbing the bread.  Ahh, the the last lucky piece, Abby said inside her head.
She opened the garbage can and noticed a flier that said, “Become a star today!”
Just in the garbage! Abby hesitated as she picked through the rotten tomato to get to the paper. Abby felt a shiver go down her spine as her fingers touched the soggy, wet, and smelly poster. Her eyes were drawn to the admission price $3, all going to charity! Wow thats awesome, I definitely need to sign up, Abby thought as she wrote her name on the “sign here” line.
But she quickly erased it as she hadn’t read any important stuff about the competition, let alone ask her mom.’’ Mommy, can I plea…” Abby started to ask  in her most childish voice, but her mom cut her off before she could finish. “Abby you're fifteen, what do you want? Actually I take that back, just do what you want, your money, your time!” Abby could barely keep herself from screaming, as she hopped around the kitchen.

Chapter 3
Abby rushed into the office, and almost ripped her sign up sheet going through the door. She put her paper in the blue basket. When she saw a stack of sign up sheets and noticed Jade’s on the top, she thought, “Oh gosh!”
Abby sped walked all the way to class, biting her lip. When her foot was almost in homeroom, she heard Jade, an unpleasantly familiar voice saying, “ I'm so excited  for the dance competition, I’m going to win for sure. I just have to make sure Abby doesn’t get in my way.’’ Abby felt like she was going to faint. She broke into a cold sweat and could barely  open the door with her shaking hands. Abby tried to act confident, and normal as she walked into the classroom.
Abby didn’t want Jade to have power over her so she reported, “Jade how do you think the golden ribbon will look on me tonight?”
Jade had a red, hot face, bulging veins, and her fists clenched. It looked like Jade’s pretty black hair could turn into red hair any minute. “Don’t you mean how will the tears pouring from your face, when I win, will look? Jade snapped. Abby didn’t have the energy to say anything so she just walked away.

Chapter 4
Abby pushed the door open, and her heart skipped a beat, as she stopped in her tracks. The stage lights made Abby’s clothes look pink, green, yellow, and blue. There were at least 15 doors lining the walls. The biggest curtain Abby has ever seen was only about 10 feet away. It was like a jungle with cameras, doors flying open, microphones, costumes, and dance shoes, everywhere! This is it. I could win 1 million dollars in the next 4 hours! Abby thought. “Alright honey. This is what you’ve been working for, let's find our room,” Abby’s mom said with comfort.
Abby couldn’t help but notice the first door on the wall was, JADE THE DIVA, in big, blue, bold letters. (45 doors later). Finally Abby and her mom reached Abby’s room. The last room, on the last wall. The real competition started in about 2 hours, so Abby had some free time. Abby didn’t want Jade being the biggest and best person at the competition, so she decided to decorate her door better than Jade’s. Abby didn’t have much at the moment to decorate, but she knew she had a costume that had lots of loose glitter she could use. Abby pulled the poster off the wall, and dug through the makeup drawer for some sort of sticky makeup to hold the glitter on the poster. “Perfect” remarked Abby pulling out some makeup glue.
Abby put the glue on the poster spelling the words, ABBY HOFFMAN SUPER STAR! Abby shook the costume all over the poster, and blew off the extra glitter. Now all she had to do was wait for it to dry and hang it up.

Chapter 5
After Abby hung up the poster, they announced on the big speaker, “The snack shop is opening.” Abby was so hungry her stomach was hurting. She grabbed a dollar out of her mom’s purse, and walked down the hallway. Boom! ¨Ouch¨ Abby moaned as she ran into someone and hit the ground. A horrible voice jerked Abby to her feet, “Mark my words, you better stay out of my way or else. Totills” Jade giggeld as she sashayed away before Abby could say anything. It was all a quick blur and Abby was happy it didn’t last long.
Abby reached the snack bar and bought herself a cookie. On the way back, Abby noticed a trail of glitter all the way to her room. She walked into her room and saw her costume was not hanging on the rack where it was before. She glanced down at the clock and there was only 30 minutes until the competition!
Abby panicked as she searched the whole room. Abby’s mom had only left for 5 minutes while Abby was gone. Abby got a weird feeling that it was probably Jade.So she decided to sneak into Jade’s room. Abby snuck down the hallway all the way to Jade’s. She tiptoed to Jade’s door and looked into the peephole, and she saw something sparkly but it was to blurry too tell what it was. She stood there a tight grip on the handle thinking about how she would open it, but suddenly her thoughts got disrupted with a piercing shriek behind her, “SECURITY!” Jade screeched, and nearly broke Abby’s ear drums.
Faster than a cheetah a small police officer showed up and asked “What’s the emergency?” “This...woman is trying to break in my dressing room!” Jade yelled. The police officer dragged Abby out of sight from Jade, and asked Abby what really happened since he new Jade was over dramatic.
“She stole my costume.” Abby muttered in frustration. The officer told Abby to stay calm and that he would get the costume in no time. (5 minutes later). The small man knocked on Abby’s door and returned the costume. “Thank you,” Abby snapped as she kind of glared at him, and slammed the door.
                                                          Chapter 6
Abby rushed on 2 layers of lipstick, and threw on her dance costume, a sparkly flowy dress with a sequined top that looked like a leotard. Abby gave herself a pep talk in the mirror, and headed backstage for the performance.
“Alright! 15 year olds there, 9 year olds and under there, and the rest right where I’m standing. Chop, Chop.”
Abby ran to the fifteen year old group and mouthed, ”You’re  going down,” to Jade. In the blink of an eye, Abby noticed that every 3 minutes a girl from her group would go out in front of the curtain and go to the back of the line after they were done, so that meant Abby was next!
She took a deep breath and leaped on the stage. Abby’s dance was the most advanced dance out of the whole competition. Abby’s dance was almost over she was praying that she’d make it through. Soon enough she was on her last move and landed her aerial perfectly. As Abby heard all the clapping and cheering she couldn't keep herself from giving an enormous smile.
Chapter 7
Jade had just finished her dance, and they were about to say the winner of 1 million dollars from the 15 year old age group. Abby held her breath as the producer announced, And the winner from the 15 year old group is……….. Abby Hoffman! Abby felt the tears pouring from her eyes as she ran onstage  and thanked the producer. He told her she was a very talented young lady and handed her the check. Abby twirled off stage and found herself facing Jade.
“Abby, Im so sorry for being so rude, you were amazing out there. Is there any way you can forgive me?” Jade sniffed.
“I’m sorry too, I was the same way. And sure, I forgive you.” Abby answered sympathetically.
Jade threw her arms around Abby. “Well I have to go, bye!” Jade stated as she ran away.
Abby just stood there in shock. Jade the diva just apologized! But it didn’t matter, what really matters is that Jade and Abby weren’t fighting, and Abby just won 1 million bucks!
Suddenly Abby saw her mom and pushed through the crowd to hug her. “I’m so proud of you,” her mom exclaimed.
Abby’s thoughts sank in, “This day didn’t stink as bad as I thought!”
