Hard Making a Friend

Once upon a time, there was a girl who always hid in her hoodie, whose name was Kat.  Her dad moved to a new house and got a new job so Kat had to go to a new school.

The first day of a different school in the 6th grade, Kat´s new teacher asked her to talk about where she came from and what her name was. Kat said ‘’ My name is Kat.’’ A girl made fun of her name and the whole class laughed. Kat got so embarrassed, but all she could do is sit in her seat. At recess, Kat tried to make a friend by being super nice to everyone, but that didn’t work so Kat sat alone that recess.The next morning, Kat got bullied because she did not have any friends. The bullies said that Kat did not have any friends because nobody liked her and thought she was weird. Kat knew that was not true so she just  ignored them.

Two  days later, Kat spilled her lunch all over someone else! The day after, nobody wanted to talk to Kat because they think she spilled her lunch all over someone else on purpose. The day after the lunch spill, Kat put on a pretty new dress. Still no friends. After trying and trying to make friends and never getting one, all Kat can do is wonder why. Kat said, “Oh, I wish, I wish I had a friend.’’

In a wink of an eye Kat sees a pretty girl sitting next to her! Kat said, “ Why do want to sit next to me? No one else wants to.’’

The girl said, “I don’t think you are any different from anyone else from this school. I also think you are pretty nice, too.”

“Thanks.’’ Kat responded. “What’s your name?’’

“Coral,’’ the girl said. “What’s your name?’’

“Kat,’’ Kat said. The two girls talked together for the rest of recess. Kat and Coral  walked to class together and played and talked with each other at recess and after recess. A few months later they became best friends! After that they both knew they could trust each other for a long, long time.

On February 11th, Kat and Coral had a new teacher. Her name was Mrs. Rose. Nobody bullied Kat anymore because Mrs. Rose was very nice and sweet, but very strict and against bullying more than anyone else. Kat and Coral got a project together! Their project is about the water cycle. “I think we should draw pictures of the cycle and then explain them on the top,” Said Kat.

“I think we should get the pictures from the Internet and explain what the pictures are on separate paper,” said Coral. Their idea for the project was they would print the pictures from the Internet and explain the drawing on the same paper but have a line to show when it was their turn to speak on the index card.

On the day it was due, they were so nervous, especially Coral. So Coral skipped to the front of the smart board where they were doing their presentation so people would think she was totally confident. When Coral got to the front while skipping, she slipped! Everyone laughed ! It was so embarrassing for Coral.

After awhile, Coral´s other friends didn't want to be her friend anymore after what happened. After a week of breaking Coral´s heart, Coral has been trying  to make new friends other than me, and ignoring me as if I was a ghost. And day after day trying to make new friends other than appreciating the one she already has. One day on the playground, I saw Coral sitting on the bench tired after trying, and trying to make a new friend. Then I saw  a girl walking as quiet  as a mouse toward Coral. When Coral faced the side the side the girl was sitting, and they started to talk for a long time until recess was over. And then after a few months of asking Coral to talk to her and then been rejected to ask if she could  hang out with that other girl, then I truly knew no more Coral for me. I think I just have to learn that sometimes it’s hard making a new friend.Yeah that is true, love me
