The Patriots
The New England Patriots began play in 1960 as a
member of the American Football League (AFL). The New England Patriots used to
be called the Boston Patriots. In 1970, the Patriots entered the National
Football League (NFL). The team changed their name to New England Patriots in
1971. The New England Patriots head
coach is Bill Belichick. Some of the Patriots best players are Tom Brady,
quarterback (QB), Julian Edelman, wide receiver (WR) and Rob Gronkowski, tight
end. The owner of the Patriots is Robert
Kraft.
The patriots went to the Super Bowl 10 times, 8 of
them since the arrival of coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady. The
Patriots won 5 Super Bowls. They were in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015 and 2017. In
the 2017 Super Bowl, the Patriots made the biggest comeback win in NFL history.
Also, it was the first Super Bowl to go into overtime.
The Patriots won 15 AFC East titles in 17 seasons since 2001, without a losing season
in that period. The franchise set records, including most wins in a 10-year
period (126, in 2003-2012). In 2007, they won an undefeated 16 game regular
season.
