My Favorite Part of the
Summer
“Are we close mom? I can't wait anymore!” I
groaned.
My family, cousins, and my best friend were all
going to Canobie Lake Park in Salem, New Hampshire! It was going to be so
thrilling! I was thinking that I was going to scream a lot on the roller
coasters, but I was going to still have tons of fun and not be scared. We were
in the car and driving closer to the park, I was getting a little antsy because
I wanted to get there really soon so I could have as much fun as possible
before we had to leave.
As we were driving to the park, I was thinking
back to the past times that we went there. I always had fun, and every single
time I went it was always my favorite part of the summer. I went on all the
rides I could. And I also played a bunch of fantastic games and I won some
prizes.
“We are here,” my mom remarked.
“Yay!” I yelled. “ We are here, after 1 million
hours!”
As we were walking to the front gate, we met up
with the rest of my family. Since we all took different cars, we were lucky
that we met up with each other so quickly. We also met up with my best friend
Jack. Jack is a friend I have known pretty much my whole life. As he ran
towards me at the big, round, dome-shaped gates of Canobie Lake Park, he looked
excited!
“Hey Jack!!!”
I said as he ran towards me.
“Hey Andy!!!” he replied.
“Where’s Megan?” I questioned, suddenly
realizing his sister was not there.
“She is home sick,” he replied.
“Awww. That stinks,” I remarked.
“Yeah. She is pretty sad. But she will still
come to your house when we come tomorrow,” Jack promised.
“Sweet,” I replied.
We all started to go on rides that we wanted to
go on. Jack and I wanted to go on Zero Gravity. My sister wanted to go on the
little cars. So we split up. My mom took
us to Zero Gravity and the rest of the family stayed with my sister Margot.
Then we found out that Zero Gravity was not open yet because the park only
opened 20 minutes ago. So Jack and I went to Wipeout.
“I can’t wait to ride this thing,” I told Jack.
“Me too,” Jack responded. The ride started up
and I was having fun. But then the ride started to go faster.
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” we both screamed. The ride
was spinning like a tornado. When the ride stopped and Jack and I walked out of
the exit, it took me more than one try to get out the door because I was so
dizzy. When we were walking out, I walked right into the pole by the exit.
“Are you okay?” some random stranger asked me.
“Yeah. I am fine,” I replied.
When Jack and I walked back to my mom and his
mom, we saw that two more families that were coming got here.
“Mom will you please take Jack and I to Zero
Gravity?” I asked.
“Sure, if that is what you want to do.” she
replied.
So my mom took us to Zero Gravity and we got on
one of the first rides. We got strapped into our places, and the ride operator
asked, “Are you ready?”
“Yeah!”
The guy started up the ride and we started to
go slow at first. But then it got much faster, and I could not get my hand off
the ride because we were going so fast. It was so much fun!
After the ride stopped we went on a few other
rides before lunch with the rest of my cousins. Two of the rides were
rollercoasters. They were really enjoyable! We also played at the arcade and I
won 378 tickets. Then we went to lunch.
I got chicken fingers and fries. So did Jack.
“These are good,” I said as I ate the rest of
my chicken fingers.
“I agree,” replied Jack as he finished the rest
of his meal.
Once we all had finished our food, we cashed in
our tickets for prizes. Then, Jack and I went to a roller coaster called The
Corkscrew. The line was long but went by very quickly and we got on right away.
The ride started up and right away I knew it was a bad decision to come on the
ride. As soon as the roller coaster started to go fast my head started to hit
the side of the straps that were holding me in place. It really hurt.
When we got off the ride, I went straight to my
mom to tell her what happened and she asked me “Are you okay now?”
“Yeah,” I replied. “It just really hurt.”
Once we all got through that incident, we went
to the back half of the park where there are more rides, and more games! Yay!
One of the fun rides that was finally open and
I was tall enough to ride was The Skaters. It is a big skateboard and it twists
and turns while going on a half-pipe track. It was really fun to experience the
ride for the first time.
To the left of this was a big roller coaster
called Untamed! DUN, DUN, DUN! It was the biggest rollercoaster at the park. At
first I was a little scared, but it was actually really fun. I ended up going
on it three times because I enjoyed it.
After a couple more rides, my entire family
started to go back to the front entrance. Most of the fun games and some other
fun rides, like the Pirate Ship and the Log Flume, are located there.
We all played lots of games and got ice cream
to celebrate since we all did good and won tons of prizes. We also went on one
more ride before we all had to leave. Jack and I went on the Turkish Twist.
After we all finished our rides, we met up at
the front gates to say good-bye.
“See ya tomorrow Jack,” I said.
“See ya,” he replied.
Then we all got in our cars, and we left
looking forward to next year’s visit.
