Out of The Dust
The US Women’s Soccer Team had a problem they needed to solve.
Their problem was that they didn’t have many supporters but they did have
haters and they needed to fix that. When the 1999 World Cup was rolling in, the
team had a talk with their coach. He said, “If we are going to win this year’s
World Cup we are going to have to put the pedal to the medal, work really hard.
I want all of you women to go home and train hard every day until you can’t
anymore.” Coach DiCicco really wanted to win and he knew how so he did
everything in his power to get to the gold trophy!
So when the World Cup got closer they were working so hard they
came home panting every day. When the time came they were ready, they made it
to the World Cup and they demolished the other teams and won the 1999 World
Cup. They got to play some of the best soccer of their lives that tournament.
They got the trophy and didn’t stop working hard. They had the Olympics to win.
They came home with the gold but, yet again did not stop working hard. After the 1999 World Cup and 2001 Olympics,
they were actually showered with fans. They had solved their problem and all
they had to do was work hard. This is what the team’s best player Mia Hamm said
after all the commotion, “ Dreams definitely do come true!” she said.
The team celebrated when winning the 1999 World Cup.
