 Pocahontas
Who is Pocahontas? She was a Native American peacemaker. A peacemaker was a negotiator. She was notable for her association with the colonial settlement of Jamestown, Virginia. Later on, Pocahontas got invited to England because the Virginia company of london had long seen one of its primary goals as the conversion of Native Americans to Christianity. The English company saw an opportunity to promote an investment. So they invited Pocahontas to England as a symbol of the tamed new world and the success of the Virginia Colony. After her trip to England, she and John Rolfe boarded ship to sail back to Virginia. On the ship Pocahontas became terribly ill. She died on board at age 22. Till this day no one knows why. But, according to John Rolfe, Pocahontas died saying “ All must die, but tis enough that her child liveth.”
