COLONIAL  LIVING

In the Colonial Times, they had some unique ways that they had their food. One fact about food is, they had Dutch ovens. This fact is one of the ways they survived, because that is how they cooked.

This topic is one of the best ones because you get to learn how they  survived and their routine. My topics are going to be on clothes, food, and weapons. These three topics are really good to stick to because you can learn a lot about their life and what they did.

     Chapter 1
          Clothes

In this paragraph, I will teach you about clothes. In the Colonial Times, women wore hoop skirts, but it was very hard for them to sit down. When they were working, they had to make certain clothes, depending on their job. For a example, farmers had to wear loose clothes. Some clothes were to fancy for work. One material for making clothes is cotton. It was very fashionable for men to wear wigs. All men wore breeches. Kids were simply dressed with breeches and a shirt.

Chapter 2
                    Food

In this paragraph I will be talking about food. Food was very important because that is what helped them survive. Probably the biggest process is when the women make butter. Women bake in dutch ovens and cook over a fire. She will test how hot the fire is by putting their arm over the fire. If the fire is really hot it will cook quicker and if the fire isn’t as hot it will need to cook longer. One bad thing about winter is if it is really cold it will freeze the vegetables. Another cool fact is colonists used salt to keep meat from spoiling. It was hard for them to think of that idea of putting salt on the meat. Did you know that they hang meat from the sealing. In the beginning I thought this was really odd but now it makes a little more sense. I almost forgot, that they put food in underground pits for storage.
Chapter
Weapons

In this paragraph I am going to teach you about weapons. Weapons were very important. Here are 5 weapons you may know, bayonet, cannons, guns, bow arrows, and Tomahawk. A Tomahawk is probably one of the ones that you don't know, I didn’t know it was real at first but now I do. European soldiers cared long pikes, guns, and heavy swords. Another really interesting fact is that swords were the most common weapon. Last, metal armor made it hard for the soldiers to move.

Now that this is done I would like to say that thank you for listening and hope you enjoyed learning about the colonial life and what they can do with clothes, food, and weapons.

Any questions????????????
